Island Life and Your Body
Carolina Beach residents don't sit still. Surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, beach runs, fishing off the pier — physical activity is woven into everyday life on the island. That's a good thing. But it also creates a specific pattern of repetitive strain that accumulates over seasons and years in ways that eventually become impossible to ignore. Surfing is particularly demanding — the paddling motion creates repetitive thoracic extension, and wipeouts load the cervical spine in ways that build over time. Dr. Margie has treated surfers, paddleboarders, and beach runners from Carolina Beach for over 30 years. She understands how these activities load the body and what structural corrections need to happen to keep you doing them without pain. She's also seen the other side of island life: seasonal workers on their feet all summer, retirees managing long-term degeneration, and year-round residents dealing with the joint inflammation that coastal humidity genuinely accelerates.
WHY IS THE DRIVE WORTH IT
Carolina Beach is a barrier island. That geography means that finding specialized healthcare often requires crossing the bridge regardless. The question isn't whether to drive — it's where. Most Carolina Beach patients who come to us have tried closer options first. What they find here is something those options couldn't offer: two experienced doctors, four integrated therapies, and 33 years of clinical track record.
Chiropractic, acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and Brainspan assessment — all coordinated under one roof. Carolina Beach patients consistently tell us they stopped thinking of it as a drive once they saw the difference in results. Ten to fifteen minutes straight up the road. No turns.
Services
Surf and water sport injuries are the most common first reason. Most Carolina Beach patients end up staying for ongoing wellness care — because the results here are different from what they found closer to home.

Effective for surf-related inflammation, chronic shoulder tension, nerve pain, and the sleep disruption that busy island life creates — especially in season.
Used by Carolina Beach patients recovering from shoulder surgery, ankle injuries, and post-season inflammation after months of high physical activity.
Cognitive health screening — omega-3 levels, inflammation markers, and brain performance testing. Popular with Carolina Beach's permanent adult residents 45+.
